These terms add to the Knavigator MCP Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. They apply when you turn on knav write. Where these terms and the Terms of Service say different things about knav write, these terms apply.
1. What knav write is
knav write is an optional, experimental add-on to Knavigator MCP. A program that runs on your computer, driven by your AI agent, changes the structure of a Knack app you registered and verified: fields, tables, pages, page rules, views and their rules, tasks, user roles, app settings and custom code. If you turn on an app's Records switches, it also reads, adds, changes or deletes that app's records.
Our server checks and prices each change. The program on your computer sends the change to Knack with your Knack API key. The key stays on your computer. Our servers never receive your Knack API key, your record values or your custom code. For custom code they receive only its size and a hash.
knav write uses Knack endpoints that Knack does not publish or support. Knavigator MCP is not affiliated with or endorsed by Knack.
2. Experimental. You accept all risks.
knav write is experimental. When you turn it on, you accept every risk of using it, whether or not it is listed here. The risks include:
- deleted or changed fields, tables, pages, views, rules, tasks, user roles, settings, custom code and records, including in a live app that people use;
- data you cannot get back;
- custom code that breaks a live app for everyone who uses it;
- fields shown on pages that need no login;
- tasks that send email or change many records;
- Knack API calls that use up your Knack plan's allowance;
- use that Knack does not allow under its terms.
If you do not accept all of these risks, do not turn knav write on.
3. knav write guides your agent. It cannot make your agent follow it.
knav write gives your AI agent tool descriptions, instructions, checks, approval steps, a kill switch, copies before deletes and undo. It cannot make your agent follow them. An agent can make mistakes, misread a request, act without being asked, follow text that someone planted in your app's field names, descriptions or emails, or bypass knav write and change your app directly with your Knack API key.
An agent that can run commands on your computer can read your Knack API key and your knav write key from your computer's password store. If you turn on in-client approvals, such an agent can also answer an approval for you.
We do not control your agent. We do not promise that any check, approval, switch, copy or undo will stop or reverse an unwanted change.
4. Your settings decide what asks you first
- knav write is off until you turn it on, for your account and for each app. You can turn it off at any time.
- Every "Ask me before" switch is off by default. A change in a category whose switch is off runs without asking you. Changes to login settings, security settings, user-role deletes and page moves under or out of a login page always wait for your approval.
- The Records switches (Read, Add, Edit, Delete) are off by default. Field and table deletes are off until you turn on "Allow field deletions".
- The kill switch stops knav from accepting new changes and approvals on your account. A change already in flight may still complete. It does not stop a process that already holds your Knack API key.
- Approvals happen on our website in your signed-in browser, or in your AI client if that option is offered and you turn it on. Anyone who uses that browser while you are signed in can approve, including an AI that controls the browser.
You are responsible for the switches you choose.
5. Data loss, copies and undo
knav write can delete or change data, including in a live app. You may not be able to get that data back. We do not promise that you, Knack or we can recover any data.
What exists, and where it stops:
- Before a field or table delete, when "Back up before deleting" is on (it is on by default), the program saves the field's values, or the table's records and the connection values that point at the table, to files on your computer, unless you chose "delete without a copy" on the approval page. Before a record delete or a bulk record change, it saves a copy of each record and its parent links on your computer. These files can be missing, incomplete or wrong. Putting data back from them is manual work that knav write does not do. The files hold record values. They are yours to keep safe and to delete.
- Some structure changes can be undone for 7 days, while nothing else has changed that part of the app. Deletes of fields, tables, pages, views, tasks and user roles, and every record change, cannot be undone with knav write.
- Knack can sometimes restore data. That is Knack's decision. We do not promise it.
These are aids. We make no promise about them. Keep your own backups. Test on a copy of your app before you use knav write on an app that people use.
6. Knack can change at any time
knav write depends on parts of Knack that Knack does not publish or support. Knack can change, limit or remove them at any time without notice. Such a change can make knav write fail, or act in ways we did not predict, including deleting or changing data. We try to fix such problems. We do not promise that we can, or when.
knav write has not been tested on Knack's next-gen apps. If you use it on one, you accept that extra risk.
We have not asked Knack to approve knav write, and Knack has not approved it. Whether your use of knav write is allowed under your agreement with Knack is between you and Knack, and you are responsible for it. Knack may limit, suspend or end your Knack account or API access because of it. We are not liable for anything Knack does to your account.
7. Records, personal and health information, and your AI provider
With an app's Records switches on, record values go from the program on your computer to your AI client, and from there to the AI provider you use. We never receive them. The local copies made before a delete or a bulk change also hold record values.
You decide whether this is allowed for the data in your apps, including personal information, health information and data you hold for clients. We are not a business associate under HIPAA and we do not sign business associate agreements for knav write. knav write is not designed for protected health information. Leave the Records switches off for an app whose records you may not share with your AI provider.
8. Your keys, your computer, your account
Your Knack API key gives full read and write access to every record and every part of your app's structure. It stays on your computer, in your operating system's password store, where any program that runs as you can read it. Your knav write key is made per computer. Revoke it on the Keys page when a computer is lost, stolen, shared or retired. Keep your account sign-in safe.
You are responsible for everything done with your account, your knav write keys or your Knack API key, by any person and by any agent.
9. You are responsible for all changes
You are responsible for every change made to your apps through knav write or with your Knack API key, whether or not you expected or wanted it. Use knav write only on apps you are authorized to change. If other people have registered the same app, each account is responsible for its own changes; we do not referee between accounts. You are responsible to your clients, your apps' users and anyone else affected by a change.
10. Custom code, tasks and public pages
- A custom code deploy goes from your computer to Knack and replaces the app's live JavaScript and CSS for everyone who uses the app, at once. We do not see, review or test the code. Our server receives only its size and a hash.
- A task can send email and change many records on a schedule. knav write creates new tasks paused. A change to a running task takes effect at its next run.
- A field shown on a page that needs no login is visible to anyone with the link. knav write warns about this. The change waits for your approval only if you turned on "Ask me before: All changes".
11. Credits
Each kind of change has its own price in credits, stated on the pricing page. A dry run, and the first stage of a change that waits for your approval, cost the facts price. That credit counts toward the change if it goes ahead, and stays charged if you decline the change or let the approval expire. A change that our server finds applied in your app is charged. A change that the program reports as failed is free, except the first-stage credit of a change that waited for your approval. A change left unreported until it expires keeps the facts price. Record changes are charged on the program's report. Refunds follow section 4 of the Terms of Service and section 13 of these terms.
12. No warranty
knav write is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that it works, that it is free of errors, that it stays available, or that a change does only what was predicted. Nothing in these terms limits a warranty or right that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
13. No liability. Your only remedy.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Avvera Technologies Inc. is not liable for any loss or damage of any kind that arises from knav write, whatever the cause, including:
- anything your AI agent does, or fails to do, with knav write or with your Knack API key;
- a change that does not give the result you expected;
- a change caused or altered by a change at Knack;
- an error, defect or failure in knav write itself, including our negligence;
- lost, deleted, changed or exposed data;
- an app that stops working for its users;
- action that Knack takes on your account;
- lost revenue, profit, business, goodwill or time.
You release us from all such claims. The first sentence of section 10 of the Terms of Service (no indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages) continues to apply to knav write.
If a change made through knav write did something you did not intend, your only remedy is the return to your balance of the credits charged for that change, if any. That is our total liability for knav write. It replaces the liability cap in section 10 of the Terms of Service.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law does not let us exclude, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.
14. You cover claims from others
You will defend us and cover our costs, losses and legal fees from any claim by someone else that arises from changes made to a Knack app through your knav write account or keys, or from your breach of these terms. "Someone else" includes your clients, your apps' users and Knack. This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our fraud or wilful misconduct.
15. We can stop knav write at any time
We may stop knav write for every account or for yours at any time, with or without notice: for example when Knack changes something, when we suspect a fault or misuse, or when we decide to change or end the add-on. A change already in flight may still complete. An outage at knav or at Knack during a change can leave the change half-applied; check your app afterwards. Stopping knav write takes no credits from you, and your credits keep buying knav read calls. We may change what knav write can do, its checks and its prices at any time.
16. The program on your computer
The knav write program is our software. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and run it on computers you control, for use with knav write on apps you are authorized to change. Do not modify the program, its request allowlist, its checks or the reports it sends us, and do not use it to send requests we did not compile. Keep it updated; we may refuse old versions. The program is provided as is, under sections 12 and 13. The AI clients and agents you use with it are not ours.
17. Accepting these terms, changes, and what survives
You accept these terms on our website before knav write is turned on for your account, by ticking each statement shown and turning write on. We record the version you accepted, the time and the statements you ticked. If we change these terms, you must accept the new version before your next change or approval; knav write refuses changes until you do. Sections 2, 3, 5 to 9 and 12 to 16 survive the end of your account or of knav write. If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Sections 14 (governing law) and 15 (general) of the Terms of Service apply to these terms.
